Transcript of the speed learning and speed reading podcast.

This is an eye opening podcast especially if you want to learn 80X faster and comprehend more. Howard Berg will enlighten you with speed learning techniques and share why our US education system is abysmal, it is a morass. Howard works on performance.

Howard is the 1990 Guinness book of world record holder for speed reading, he is the worlds fastest reader. It will become apparent to you that Howard is a smart man and is able to teach others with average intelligence how to learn. He learned how the brain works and was able to complete his school work must faster than other kids.

Howard has trained many students across the board who are consistently graduating from college before they are 18 years old….not only graduating college at a tender young age but doing so with 4.0 grades. Howard trains business people how to read and learn faster as well.

"Reading is not learning. Reading is just one of the blades in the Swiss Army knife….a big fat blade," says Howard Berg. The average reader reads about 200 words per minute. The three different types of learning are literal, implied and inferential, and Howard gives the "dime story" to illustrate how the different types of learning are applied. Howard also goes into the Roosevelt story with the dime and how they found the cure for polio.

In order to make learning work we have to make it interesting, meaningful and significant. ABCOQ is an acronym that Howard describes in the studying habits that are required to understand and comprehend information.

Howard has started his own school systems where he is deploying his technology so they can run their own school and resell his learning programs. "Our US education system is in a morass," says Berg. "28% of our high school seniors can’t read at the 8th grade level. 90% of the high school graduates in the state of Texas education agency cannot write a paragraph! The system is a morass and very political and the department of education does not want to improve the system because people want to keep their jobs," according to Berg. "Most schools are interested in tests and attendance."

The US education system is interested in creating jobs. They are interested in improving on test scores. Our teachers are in the standardization business and the testing business and not the education business. Howard Berg is interested in educating people.
