What are the latest Social Media Trends?

I believe that Google is focused intensely in 3 areas:

• Social Media (Google+)
• Mobile
• Video

In this video I think I have found something Google is working on that they will be rolling out that is significant? Why is it significant? Because they are going to give social media a piece of their most valuable screen SERP real estate, in the upper right hand corner above the PPC ads.
