Do you ever find yourself surfing the web and keeps seeing the same ad from the website you visited earlier in the same day or the day before? This is known as re-targeting or re-marketing. Basically trying to hit up the same visitor on a third party website using a tracking cookie. The reason why you see it a lot is because it works. We know as professional marketers that a person who revisits the website is much more likely to purchase the second time around.

Where it can get annoying is when you have already made a purchase from the site that is doing the re-targeting or you just plain don’t want to see their ads anymore. So there is a remedy for this. You can tell Google to turn off the ads. Here is a link to manage your ad preferences.
